Touch Starvation?
Millions of people are being deprived of even the slightest physical contact during lockdown. It feels so unnatural and lonely… There’s a name for it: skin hunger. Like so many things in life, we do not realise how much we depend on human touch until we can no longer have it. Humans are wired to be touched: from birth until the day we die, our need for physical contact remains. I’m going to hug you all so much when restrictions are lifted! But till then you can join me in this international HUGS AROUND THE WORLD CHALLENGE, to make this world a little bit more beautiful. What about offering a special hug to someone you miss and become part of the HUGGING COMMUNITY? Make a video of ca.30 sec. with your phone to send to your dear one (or ones!) and also send me a copy! The idea is that we all make more or less the same movements, like if we all would sing the same song of longing - see example in the attachment or klick on this Link: https://burggrabe.de/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/HUMAN-Project.Hugs-Challenge.mp4 |
Finally, we will cut a short film from all the small videos we receive, to the piece of music COMMUNITY (https://youtu.be/vDrJc8OY8Q8) of the International Culture Project HUMAN by Helge Burggrabe. HOW TO DO IT: Keep your phone vertical while filming! Start with your head turned to the side with your eyes closed, turn your head to the camera, open your eyes. Come closer to almost touch the camera, bring the hand towards your body to lovingly touch yourself. Hug yourself slowly and turn around. Release the arms down and look to the other side again for an imaginary next person. Done? Drop your video at this Dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/request/ayZ92AZkV0wwlUXoHpaq And if you want to enlarge our HUGGING COMMUNITY, share this initiative with more people. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
