Auf der Flucht, weil es in Ihrem Heimatland nicht mehr sicher ist. Sie hoffen auf ein besseres Leben und landen nach einer gefährlichen Reise im Flüchtlingslager Moria auf Lesbos. Nach einem verheerenden Brand im Jahr 2020 werden die Flüchtlinge im provisorischen Lager Mavrovouni untergebracht. Unter erschreckenden Bedingungen, wo Menschenrechte verletzt werden und die Grundausstattung unzureichend ist, wollen wir ein nachhaltiges Community-Tanzprojekt für Kinder und junge Erwachsene schaffen. Unser Ziel ist es, in Zusammenarbeit mit lokalen Organisationen auf Lesbos, Brücken zwischen den Einheimischen und den Jugendlichen aus dem Flüchtlingslager zu bauen. Denn gemeinsames Tanzen führt zu besserem Verständnis, mehr Toleranz und einem respektvollen Miteinander. Wir werden ein sicheres Umfeld schaffen,  in dem jeder Teilnehmer seine Kraft, Hoffnung und Würde wiedererleben kann.
 
Kurzer Nachklang Lesbos 2024
Die Projektleitung, Nanni Kloke,  besuchte im April 2024 erstmals die Insel Lesbos, um mit den lokalen Organisationen Stand by Me und RAD Music International kennenzulernen und Vorbereitungen zu treffen für das HUMAN international culture project.   Im Oktober wurde unter der künstlerischen Leitung von Royston Maldoom und Nanni Kloke ein Community Dance Project realisiert, das im Nationaltheater von Mytilini aufgeführt wurde um Brücke zwischen Geflüchteten und Einheimischen zu schaffen.
Die Proben stellten das Team jedoch vor große Herausforderungen. Neben kulturellen Unterschieden zwischen deutschen und griechischen Organisationen erschwerten die strengen Regeln des Flüchtlingscamps die Arbeit. Viele der jungen Teilnehmer aus Sudan und Syrien mussten Lesbos unerwartet verlassen, da sie ihren Flüchtlingsstatus erhalten hatten. Dadurch konnte die ursprünglich geplante Choreografie nicht aufgeführt werden. In nur wenigen Tagen wurde stattdessen das Stück Man at War erarbeitet – ein emotionales Tanzstück zur Symphonie Nr. 3 von Górecki, das den Schmerz und die Hoffnung von Kriegsmüttern thematisierte.
Am Abend der Aufführung war der Theatersaal gut gefüllt. Nach der Präsentation des HUMAN-Projekts und des ursprünglich geplanten Stücks Tryst als Film, brachten die verbliebenen Tänzer Man at War auf die Bühne. Die Stille im Saal während der Darbietung zeigte die emotionale Wirkung, bevor das Publikum mit tosendem Applaus und einer Standing Ovation reagierte.
Nach der feierlichen Zertifikatsübergabe für die Teilnehmenden Tänzern verabschiedete das Team die mutigen jungen Männer und Frauen, die in eine ungewisse Zukunft aufbrachen – eine Realität, die für viele van uns kaum vorstellbar ist.
On the run because it is no longer safe in your home country. You hope for a better life and after a dangerous journey you end up in the Moria refugee camp on Lesvos. After a devastating fire in 2020, the refugees are housed in the temporary camp Mavrovouni. Under appalling conditions, where human rights are violated and basic facilities are inadequate, we want to create a sustainable Community Dance Project for children and young adults. Our goal is, in collaboration with local organizations at Lesvos, to build bridges between the locals and the young people from the refugee camp. Because, dancing together leads to better understanding, more tolerance and respectful cooperation. We will create a save environment in which every participant can experience there strength, hope and dignity again.
 
Summary - Echo Lesbos 2024
The project manager, Nanni Kloke, visited the island of Lesbos for the first time in April 2024 to get to know the local organizations Stand by Me and RAD Music International and to make preparations for the HUMAN international culture project. In October, a community dance project was realized under the artistic direction of Royston Maldoom and Nanni Kloke, which was performed in the National Theater of Mytilini to build bridges between refugees and locals.
However, the rehearsals presented the team with major challenges. In addition to cultural differences between German and Greek organizations, the strict rules of the refugee camp made the work more difficult. Many of the young participants from Sudan and Syria had to leave Lesbos unexpectedly because they had received refugee status. As a result, the originally planned choreography could not be performed. In just a few days, the piece Man at War was developed instead - an emotional dance piece to Górecki's Symphony No. 3, which addressed the pain and hope of war mothers.
On the evening of the performance, the theater hall was well filled. After the presentation of the HUMAN project and the originally planned piece Tryst as a film, the remaining dancers brought Man at War to the stage. The silence in the hall during the performance showed the emotional impact before the audience responded with thunderous applause and a standing ovation.
After the ceremonial presentation of certificates to the participating dancers, the team said goodbye to the brave young men and women who were setting off into an uncertain future - a reality that is hard to imagine for many of us.
